Remember when doing science research to focus on the ABCDs!
- Author - Who is writing it? Why should you trust them?
- Bias - Do they present both sides of the argument?
- Content - Is the content accurate, thorough, complete, and without error?
- Date - When was it published?

PubMed Central® (PMC) is a free full-text archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature at the U.S. National Institutes of Health's National Library of Medicine (NIH/NLM). A great place to go for real scientific research!
- Go to www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/.
- Use the search bar at the top. Make sure to use specific keywords.
- Click on an article to read the full-text. (Read the abstract to find out what the article is about. Use ctrl-f to search for keywords within the article.)
- At the top right of the page, click on "Citation." Just copy and paste the correct format!
Gale Reference Collection
- Go to onlinelibrary.uen.org (Ask a librarian for the at-home login)
- Click on Gale Reference Collection - Grades 9-12.
- Click on Science in Context.
- Use the search bar or "Browse Topics."
- Results are organized by type of source (i.e. News, Magazines, Academic Journals, Critical Essays).
- Each article includes a citation at the bottom of the page. It's in MLA format.
EBSCO
- Go to onlinelibrary.uen.org (Ask a librarian for the at-home login)
- Click on EBSCO.
- Scroll down to find Science Reference Center.
- Use the search bar at the top. Make sure to use specific keywords.
- Click on an article to find the Abstract and read what the article is about.
- On the left hand side, click on PDF Full Text or HTML Full Text to read the article.
- On the right-hand side, click on "Cite" to find the correct citation format. Just copy and paste it!
- EBSCO has many different databases. Instead of clicking on "Science Reference Center," you can click on "All Databases" to search through all of them.
